by Rob Buenaventura

When you are faced with a new flooring type you may not be sure how to go about cleaning it. Cleaning hardwood floor is not difficult but it is different from cleaning other types of flooring in a few crucial ways. The first thing to remember about cleaning hardwood floor is that a little bit of preventative maintenance will go a long way. If you take care of your floor it will provide you with many years of lasting beauty.

The most basic step for cleaning hardwood floor is to keep it clean of debris. Just like with other flooring types, you should sweep your floor daily or as needed which may be more or less. If you do not sweep the debris off of the floor you may end up with scratches or other blemishes. You should also wash your floor on a regular basis. But do not use a mop and bucket of water to wash your floor because water will damage hardwood. Instead you will need to use a special cleaning product that will remove any marks and keep the floor clean.

It is very important with hardwood flooring to wipe up any spills that occur as soon as they happen. If you don`t wipe up spills you could end up with discoloration and permanent stains. Cleaning hardwood floor is very simple and is actually one of the easier types of flooring to keep clean.
