Professional Hardwood Floor Installation

by Rob Buenaventura

If you are not the handy type then you should consider professional hardwood floor installation rather than try to put it in yourself. Although there are some very simple interlocking flooring kits that you can get to help you with the do it yourself type of installation (especially if you are installing a floating floor) you do need to have some skills before you install the floor. For instance if you are not good with hammer and nails then forget it. There is a lot of hammering that goes on when you install a floor regardless if the instruction manual tells you that all you have to do is fit the interlocking pieces together.

You should also not try to install the floor yourself if you are a poor judge of whether or not something is level or not. Laying the floor down evenly is also very important. Also f you are not good at cutting and sawing odd pieces of wood off so that it fits into a corner then you might end up wasting a lot of money.

You should also consider asking for professional hardwood floor installation if your floor has no subfloor or if it needs some kind of prepatory work such as the pouring of cement to create a better foundation. If the foundation of your floor is not exactly right then the whole thing could sag. You might also opt for hardwood floor installation if you live in a really old house and the floors are crooked. You might need that expert eye to inform you of exactly how the floor should be laid to compensate for any listing of the walls or subfloor due to age.

Otherwise professional floor installation is not usually necessary. Linoleum floors come in easy to cut strips that make it easy for you to fit your own flooring. Ceramic tiles can also be simple to install, especially if you are dealing with a brand new level foundation. Hardwood flooring, especially floating hardwood flooring does not require professional installation at all if you are adept at hammering, sawing and using a level properly.

You can find experts at professional floor installation in your phone book or on the Internet. Your flooring retailer can also give you advice and references about independent contractors. You will also find that many distributors and manufacturers of flooring of all kinds offer professional floor installation as one of their customer services.
