However it is not impossible to do hardwood floor installation if you pay close attention to instruction and have some basic skills. If you really want to learn how to install hardwood floor, you will be able to successfully install your own floor.

Before you make the decision to go ahead with hardwood floor installation you will want to be sure that it is the right decision for you. Do you have basic carpentry skills? Will you have the access to the necessary tools such as an air nailer, compressor and appropriate saws? There is something to be said for hiring a professional to take care of tedious and finicky work such as installing hardwood floor. However, that is not to say that you cannot do it as well. Once you have purchased the flooring material be sure to read through all of the manufacturer`s instructions very carefully. The instructions will teach you how to install hardwood floor boards that are manufactured by them because every manufacture will vary slightly. You will also need to decide on pre-finished boards or natural. If you go with the untreated boards you will need to finish them yourself after the installation.

A few tips to keep in mind when you are installing hardwood floor is to lay the boards perpendicular to the floor joints. It is also important to leave a ½” gap around the perimeter of the floor to allow for expansion because after hardwood floor installation a floor will still expand and contract with humidity levels and the environment of the home. When you are working with different sizes of boards or strips you should take care to integrate the various lengths of pieces with each other to keep the look pleasing to the eye. The same is true if the boards have natural marks and blemishes, you should mix them up with the clear boards to keep the look pleasing. It is not impossible to learn how to install hardwood floor, just be sure that you take your time and do not rush the job.
